“Now, in its 17th year, this is the first time that the YMCA Dream House will be on the lake,” said Peggy Swanger, YMCA Director of Development. “And this is not your typical lake house… It’s very timeless, blending traditional design with pieces that reflect today’s focus on functionality and simplicity. From the lower level “cool place to be” area to the third floor  Crow’s Nest, to the private beach and gazebo for residents of Lake Erie Shores, this house has numerous amenities everyone will enjoy. While the Dream House’s beauty is important, the house has been designed to be energy efficient. It has Anderson wood windows to withstand the Lake Erie weather conditions and a higher-grade insulation in the walls, plus an Amana high efficiency furnace and air-conditioning for increased energy efficiency.”

The exterior of the house has a welcoming front porch, a second floor private deck and a back patio. The spacious main floor features a den, living room with built-in bookcases, a dining room, a two-sided fireplace that opens from the great room into the eat-in kitchen with state-ofthe-art Jenn-Air appliances, a powder room and a butler’s pantry. The tranquil master suite with a walk out deck is on the second floor. In addition, there are Jack and Jill bedrooms with a shared bath, a guest bedroom and bath with a headboard that was created from an antique fireplace mantle from a home by Lake County master builder Jonathan Goldsmith, and a second floor laundry. The third floor features a Crow’s Nest with panoramic views of the Fairport Harbor lighthouse and Lake Erie sunsets. And finally the lower level, “a cool place to be,” was designed to be a casual, fun place for kids to watch TV, play video games, or have snacks with friends and family.
“The dedication and hard work of our builder, contractors and designers have created an extraordinary, comfortable Northeast Ohio home. It has year-round appeal and I believe it will be a fan favorite. It means so much to the YMCA that the people who work on the Dream House really care and work together,” commented Dick Bennett, Lake County YMCA CEO and Executive Director.

The Lake County YMCA Dream House project is not possible without the support and dedication of its sponsors including: Cambria Natural Quartz Surfaces, Cleveland.com, Cleveland Magazine, Closet Factory, Dollar Bank, Gazette Newspapers, Guhde FlooringAmerica, Mentor Lumber & Supply Company, The News-Herald, Osborne Inc., Sheraton Furniture, Surface\cle, Villa Grande at Lake Erie Shores, WELW 1330 AM, The Women’s Journal, W.R. Dawson Construction, and WTAM 1100 AM.

Since 1993, proceeds from the Dream House project have totaled over $3.5 million (approximately $200,000 per year) to provide facility and equipment enhancements for each branch of the Lake County YMCA (Central-Painesville, West End-Willoughby, East End Madison, Outdoor Family Center-Perry, and Childcare services). A few of the enhancements made possible because of the Dream House project have included buses, playground equipment, expanded locker rooms, defibrillators, cardio-vascular equipment, water attractions, an in-line skating rink, and accessibility modifications for those with special needs.   For progress images of the YMCA Dream House and additional information, visit www.ymcadreamhouse.org.
