Arthritis Foundation/YMCA Aquatic Program A structured program taught by certified instructors. Exercises have a specific purpose related to the joints and surrounding muscles affected by arthritis. It can be modified to each person’s level of mobility. ALL SESSIONS

Orientation for new participants
Shrimp Parent/Child Ages 6 - 18 months Introduction to the aquatic environment. This class promotes water safety and aquatic readiness through play, songs and fun. Swim classes are 30 minutes in length. Gym & Swim classes are one hour. Gym classes focus on coordination, balance and locomotor skill development through a variety of activities and structured play. Perch Parent/Child Ages 18 - 36 months Class continues to encourage exploration of the aquatic environment. Children learn safety, confidence and some skills through play with flotation devices, songs and fun. Swim classes are 30 minutes in length. Gym & Swim classes are one hour. Gym classes continue to strengthen children's coordination, balance and locomotor skill development.

PIKES & EELS Beginners Ages 3 - 5 Pikes develop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water, learn basic paddle strokes and kicking skills, pool safety and are comfort with face in water. Eels are comfortable in the water and can swim independently with flotation. Gym classes focus on coordination, balance and locomotor skills development through a variety of activities and structured play.
**EELS ONLY: Children must be comfortable swimming in large pool with a floatation device. Rays & Starfish Intermediate and advanced Ages 3 - 5 Rays review previous skills, improve stroke skills, build endurance, tread and dive. Children can swim across the width of the large pool on their front and back unassisted. Starfish can swim on their own the length of the pool on their front and back. Gym classes focus on coordination, balance and locomotor skill development through a variety of activities and structured play.
Gym, Swim & Splash! Ages 3 - 5 Gym & Swim with an additional 30 minutes after class of supervised free swim. Levels offered: Pike & Eel, Ray & Starfish ALL SESSIONS
All ages All levels Call the YMCA to schedule. Each session is made up of seven 30 minute classes. Register 2 - 5 participants for semi-private lessons. Due to staffing requirements, all private lessons and semi-private lessons must be paid for in advance. Participants are only permitted one 30 minute make up class per seven week session. Water Fitness (All Levels) Instructors will cue intensity and modifications to allow participants to tailor their workout to meet their individual needs. Class will incorporate use of the whole pool, stationary and traveling intervals as well as laps.

All levels include personal safety and personal growth issues for discussion, rescue skills, sports and games along with stroke development to provide a holistic lifelong enjoyment of the water. Due to limited pool space, members are permitted to register for one class per session. If a member wishes to register for more than one class, they must wait until the second week of the session and pay $50 for each additional class. Polliwog Students must be at least 6 years old and in first grade. This is an entry level class; no skills are required. Guppy (completed Polliwog) Students must swim on front, back and side continously for 25 yards (one pool length) without flotation devices. Minnow (completed Guppy) Students must swim the following strokes for 25 yards: Front Crawl using rhythmic breathing, Back Crawl using good form, and Side Paddle. Fish (completed Minnow) Students must swim Front Crawl using rotary breathing for 50 yards, Back Crawl using good form for 50 yards, Elementary Back Stroke for 25 yards and Dolphin Dives for 15 yards. Students must also tread water for 1 minute. Flying Fish (completed Fish) Students must swim Front and Back Crawl for 100 yards, Side Stroke with scissors kick for 50 yards and Breast Stroke for 25 yards. Students must also tread water for 5 minutes. Shark (completed Flying Fish) Students must swim continously for 200 yards using proper forms of Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Side Stroke, and Elementary Back Stroke. Students must also swim Breast Stroke for 50 yards, Butterfly Stroke for 25 yards and tread water for a minimum of 6 minutes using all kicks. Porpoise (completed Shark) This is a great opportunity to continue growing in aquatics. We will refine your strokes, practice water safety skills and help teach swim lessons. This adult class is designed for all levels. The instructor will provide materials such as, but not limited, to watercolors, acrylics, soft clay in a guided open studio environment. While no experience is necessary, shared expertise is welcome. Participants may share talents...perhaps someone will teach the group how to crochet, knit a scarf, or build something all together different. The two-hour class time offers instruction for the first hour and an open studio for the second. ALL SESSIONS Tue 6 - 8 pm (combined with teen class) Thu 10 am - Noon FEE $35/$60

Ages 6 - 12 Students will learn artistic techniques, styles and become familiar with our legendary artist of the week. This is a chance for children to express themselves through art forms, experience creativity, self-discovery and build self-esteem through the power of art. ALL SESSIONS
Ages 13 - 17 This teen class is designed for all levels. The instructor will provide materials such as, but not limited to, watercolors, acrylics and soft clay. The first hour will be instruction followed by the one-hour open studio. Come paint, create pottery and draw! ALL SESSIONS
Open Studio We will have an OPEN STUDIO time for class participants who want to finish up projects or to have extra art time. Open to youth, teen and adult class participants. ALL SESSIONS Tue 6 - 7 pm FEE FREE! to participants registered for Art Expression class.
Ages 9-12 This babysitting program trains boys and girls with a practical, common-sense approach to caring for children. The training covers the following: knowing what parents look for in a sitter, marketing yourself and what to charge, first-aid, including Heimlich Maneuver and CPR (basic training, not a certification course) understanding the likes and dislikes of children, troubleshooting the most common problems and solutions and answers to frequently asked babysitting questions. Ages 3-5 This program is based on Christian values and includes gym component, swimming, crafts, and Bible stories. Parent is not required to stay in the facility during this program. Children must be potty trained. ALL SESSIONS Tues & Thu 9:30 am - Noon FEE $60/$90
Parent and Child Ages 1 - 3 This is the first level in our literacy program. Come listen to stories with us. We will entertain you with puppets, pictures and educational books and then create a small craft reflecting the story. ALL SESSIONS
Ages 6 & up All abilities welcome. Children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by a parent. First project will be a scarf. Yarn will be available, but if looking for a specific color, provide own. Also bring size 10 knitting needles or size 6 crochet hook. Additional projects will be discussed week one for rest of session. ALL SESSIONS

Ages 12 - 17 Come learn the fundamentals of the sacred art of clay. Students will learn the basics of hand crafting pinch pots, coil pots and sculptures with an experienced ceramics artist. ALL SESSIONS
Ages 3 - 6 The Sing and Sign Class uses a wide range of traditional songs and play to help teach children simple signs. Through this program, children will learn signs for animals, colors, actions and other key words to help them communicate in American Sign Language. ALL SESSIONS

Ages 6 - 9 This is the third level in our literacy program. There are no prerequisites for this class. Children will experiment with relative stories in a fun and supportive setting using games like story relay, story improvisation and WORD PLAY! Activities will activate the imagination while building skills in listening, story telling and illustration. Children will learn to "think like a writer" while crafting short stories. Ages 10 & Older This is the fourth level in our literacy program. No prerequisites for this class. Students will experiment with creative writing in a fun and supportive setting using games like Story Relay, Story Improvisation and Word Play! ALL SESSIONS
Ages 3 - 5 This is the second level in our literacy program. Craft and Story Time is not a prerequisite. This is a reading readiness class geared towards story sequencing and letter recognition. Children will listen to nursery rhymes, short stories and poetry while visually organizing the order of events. Children will also learn to read the alphabet letters, their sounds and practice writing the letters. ALL SESSIONS

Ages 16 & older This course trains and certifies participants in the YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (YSL) program. This course presents the knowledge and skills needed to teach swim lessons. We offer a holistic approach to instruction for all levels of participants ages six months to adult (any age)! This certification is valid for 2 years. Prerequisites: Minimum age of 16, ability to demonstrate proficiency at Minnow level, current First Aid, CPR Pro, AED and Emergency Oxygen. Program Dates
We offer supervised activities for children while parents are in the building. There is a two hour limit per day. The YMCA reserves the right to close the Chilwatch/Kool Kidz areas 1/2 hour prior to the scheduled closing times if no children are in attendance.
Ages 3 - 5 The Central Branch Learning Station is a state licensed facility that provides quality care through the year. Our goal is your child’s safety and security in a healthy environment. Included in this program is a daily preschool component in the morning, weekly swim lessons, gym class, music class and other fun activities that the YMCA has available to offer your child. This two day workshop gives you a great clay experience! Students will have the chance to experiment with clay and create pottery or sculptures. The first day we will be working with soft clay and the second day we will glaze our fired pieces. This is a great time to make holiday ornaments or gifts. This event is for all ages. Ages 3 - 10 with parent Our Family Adventure Center is an indoor play area designed for parents and children to spend quality time together. Parents are required to be in the Center with their children at all times to help supervise them and maintain a high level of safety. It is strongly encouraged that parents interact with their children in this area. Socks are required.

Aerobics An excellent cardiovascular workout combining high and low impact routines. This is appropriate for all fitness levels. Balls & Bands Achieve total body strength workout using stability balls, bosu and bands as well as your own body weight. Appropriate for all levels, from inexperienced to the "die hards". Boot Camp This class will help you develop greater speed and agility, increase strength and endurance, move more efficiently and improve balance and coordination. Not for the faint of heart, this class will keep you moving and motivated. Bosu & Strength A combination of strength exercises with an aerobic workout using the Bosu ball, bands, dumbbells and your own body weight. Cardio Challenge Heart pumping cardiovascular exercise combined with strength training in a variety of class formats using equipment that includes the bench, dumbbells, stability balls, bosu, stationary bikes, bands, jump ropes, etc. This is appropriate for all fitness levels. Core Pole/Strength This is a unique form of group training integrates core movement patterns that require balance and stability. Participants use rubber tubing attached to varying heights on a pole as well as bands, balls and dumbbells. Cycle Bike with a group, but get an individual workout. There is nothing like this workout…it’s all legs and will whip you into shape in no time. No coordination is required. Iron Clad Do a full body strength workout without going to the weight room. If you like to work out in a group setting and you want to pump iron, this is the class for you. Kickboxing Here’s a workout that packs a punch. This is an exciting, energy-packed cardiovascular workout utilizing martial arts and boxing inspired moves. Pilates Basics This class will teach the novice the basics. Breathing, posture, form and balance are the essence of Pilates. You will learn the fundamentals to understand what to do when you get in a regular Pilates class. Power Abs Work your core and strengthen your abdominal muscles. Step A fun cardiovascular workout for all fitness levels using benches. Classes contain cardiovascular, flexibility and strength components. Class can be modified up or down to suit your needs. Step & Bosu A fun and different step class that incorporates the Bosu ball for additional strength, balance and stability exercises. Step & Strength A combination of strength exercises with an aerobic workout using the step, ball, bands, dumbbells and your own body weight. Triple Threat A combination of cardio intervals with strength and abdominal exercises to provide you with an efficient and effective total body workout. ALL SESSIONS

Chair Yoga Especially good for seniors, baby boomers and beginners of all ages, this class uses a gentle approach and will make you feel better, give you more energy, relieve stress and provide an overall feeling of well-being. Free For All Fitness A combination of cardio and strength. Each week will be something new and different. Grunt ’n Groan An early bird floor workout utilizing traditional exercises. Members ages 12 - 15 may use the Healthy Lifestyle Center after completing at least two fitness orientations. Members ages 12 - 15 may use the Weight Room after completing the HLC orientation along with a Weight Room Orientation. Comfortable, Private and Personalized. Your massage will take place in our new massage room. It's a warm, comfortable, quiet room with access for both men and women from the pool area. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort. This program is based on behavior change. It includes effective goal setting and strategies for helping new exercisers identify and overcome barriers. This 12-week program is designed for those who have little time or motivation to exercise. It's comfortable here. The program is flexible, convenient and fun. You'll have your own workout plan and stay motivated with the help and guidance of our trained staff. Advanced Pilates This class is designed for people who have been practicing Pilates for at least a year. Pilates A fitness program that integrates the mind and body into movements that are excellent for balancing your skeletal and muscular systems. The primary focus is on the "core" to enhance strength, flexibility and alignment. Yoga This class includes performing a variety of postures that improve balance, flexibility, strength and relaxation while focusing on breathing techniques. Regular practice of yoga postures improves the body-mind connection and enhances concentration. Zumba Easy to follow, Latin inspired rhythms featuring fast and slow intervals and resistance training. SilverSneakers is a unique physical activity program designed to encourage members to increase their physical activity. Based upon "fitness, fun and friends," the fitness center-based program incorporates fun, social programming with an exercise program that enhances independent living skills. The target market of SilverSneakers is Medicare-eligible populations, primarily age 65 and older with activity levels ranging from active to semi-sedentary. Muscular Strength & Range of Movement (MSROM) This class offers something for everyone, regardless of fitness level, and can help improve overall strength and flexibility - helping you stay healthy and independent. As in other SilverSneakers classes, the instructor guides you through the exercises at your own pace. Cardio Circuit The class features upper-body strength workouts using hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and other fun accessories in non-impact aerobic activity. A chair is available for support and easty head to-toe stretching. Yoga Stretch Learn gentle, effective stretching that can help maintain joint flexibilty and prevent injury. Stretching can also help improve muscle tone and help you relax, both physically and mentally.

Back by popular demand, this seven week class is your introduction to free weight training. Utilizing barbells and dumbbells in the weight room is the most efficient way to tone, sculpt and build lean muscle tissue. It’s safe, sensible and motivating. Class meets for 7 weeks. ALL SESSIONS
Ages 10 & Up A more advanced version of Art Expressions. Students will learn about famous artists through the artist of the week, artistic techniques and styles. This is a chance for children to express themselves through art. We also do events like our end of year art show. ALL SESSIONS

This program provides caring support to YMCA volunteers, members and staff. Chaplains provide a resource to further direct them to devotional and worship opportunities when needed. Volunteer pastors with clearly marked identification badges will be available at various times each week. Watch for the Chaplain bulletin board and don't be shy about saying hello to one of them as you see them hanging around. Grades 7 - 12 If you want to make a difference in your community, like working with children, want to have fun and meet new people, come join us for an informational meeting. The orientation will consist of a general parent/teen session followed by a separate informational segment for the teens (led by the Leaders Club Officers) and for the parent (led by the Leaders Club Advisors). Taking Marriage to the Next Level with Pastor Jeff Sivyer What is the difference between a good marriage and a great marriage? A great marriage is ever growing, ever evolving. It rarely happens by accident. Join other couples wanting to have a dynamic marriage and learn how to improve communication, resolve conflict, get on the same page in a fun interactive atmosphere. This four-week workshop will be followed by a Valentines Banquet full of good food, laughter and many give-a-ways! (Childwatch is available) Pastor Jeff Sivyer received his Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1982 and has been working with marriages ever since. Grades 9 - 12 This program helps young teens achieve post high school higher education, career development, life skills and leadership characteristics. Although the program is open to all youth, the focus is to help minority youth in our community achieve higher success in school and beyond high school. This program is for teens who are ready to take the ultimate step towards achieving excellence. This program demands high levels of commitment and maturity out of its members. We need adult volunteers from local businesses to help. Work day demonstrations, professional development and shadowing opportunities have a lasting impact on our youth. Grade 6 The You Go Girl program is a prevention program that specifically caters to girls. This is a great forum for young ladies to focus on building self esteem and preventing at risk behaviors.
